I must admit...When it comes to my hair, I'm just plain lazy! I have fine, thin hair and it takes a lot of work to make it look half decent. You would think that since my sister is a hairstylist, I would be really into hair stuff. Well, my sister is the only reason my hair ever looks good! Every now and then she wrangles me into her chair kicking and screaming and gives me a new cut, color, or style. When left to my own devices, though, I pull my hair into a ponytail and call it a day. Lately, I have been trying to break this habit and put more effort into styling my hair. Up until now, I had always I flipped past anything that had to do with hair. Now I started adding some cute style ideas to my "look book" (You can check out my post about that here.) So, I thought I'd share a few hair-related articles that I saved from various magazines as inspiration. Hope you enjoy!
I find the feature on Jessica Alba especially inspiring, because she is a fine-haired girl!
So, do you like staying up on new hairstyles and trying new looks or do you keep it simple? What is your favorite trend of the moment?
It's been awhile since I posted any travel pictures, so I thought I'd share some from one of the most beautiful places I have ever laid eyes on. This is Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, Central America. This gorgeous lake surrounded by volcanoes is located just a couple of hours away from the capital. This past summer, I took boat tour that visited various towns around the lake.
I think this is a painting of a Mayan Cabbage Patch Kid! LOL.
This man used birds to read fortunes. You gave him your money, then he pulled one of the birds out from the cage. The bird used its beak to retrieve a little paper with a fortune written on it. Here was my fortune:
These children performed a traditional dance for us.
This painting depicts a "Romeo and Juliette" type legend about the lake...two star-crossed lovers are supposedly responsible for a strange current that sweeps the lake.
We visited a women's cooperative that showcases traditional Mayan weaving.
These are traditional Mayan woven blouses called "huipiles."
In my eyes, Lago Atitilan is quite possibly one of the most enchanting places in the world...
So, what is the most beautiful place you have visited?

What I have to say:
I use BB creams every day, but I have only used Korean products up until now. I once sampled Maybelline's Dream Fresh BB Cream, but I did not like that product at all. (You can check out that review here.) Since the Maybelline BB cream was my only experience with American-made BB creams, my expectations for this sample were quite low.
The sample came in a fairly generous-sized packet. I don't use a whole lot of product, so, this sample was enough for me to use twice.
What I liked most about this BB cream was the texture. It comes out thick and creamy, but the cream is light and airy rather than heavy. The color blended very well with my skin. I liked that it had a more golden undertone, as most "light" makeup tends to have very pink undertones that don't work too well for me. Here's a swatch of the cream before blending:
It went on smooth and creamy. At first, because it was creamy, I thought it was going have a dewier finish, but it dried to a soft matte finish. The coverage was fairly light, but similar to other BB creams I have used. I'd say it was on the heavier side of light coverage, but not quite medium coverage. While it was matte, true to its name, there was a sort of luminous appearance to my skin. It gave my face a soft and diffused appearance. This Pond's BB was not as heavily perfumed as Korean BB creams. It did have a scent, but it was light, fresh, unobtrusive, and faded quickly. Overall, I really liked this product! I would say this BB is comparable to the Korean BB creams I have tried by brands such as Missha, Nature Republic, and Holika Holika. It definitely holds it own and I would highly recommend this one! I think the creamy texture makes it ideal for those with normal to dry skin. If your skin is combination you might be able to get away with this, but it will probably be too moisturizing if you have oily skin. If you are looking for light to medium coverage, this is a great product for you. If you need heavier coverage, this might work well as a base to combine with other face makeup. I can't speak on the claims that this product fades dark spots over time, since I only used it twice. Still, it is a nice little BB cream and the reasonable price makes it definitely worth a try.
So have you tried this BB cream? If so, I'd love to hear what you thought of it. What new skin product are you loving these days?
Like so many other women, as soon as its release was announced, the Naked 3 was instantly #1 on my Christmas wishlist. I am a die-hard fan of the original Naked palette and I use it almost every day. I really liked the pinkish tones in this new palette and couldn't wait to get my hands on it. As I watched the news of it being sold out on the Urban Decay site, as well as other beauty sites such as Sephora and Ulta, I began to doubt that I'd find it under my tree this year. As I unwrapped the box, I was beyond excited!
I have seen a few critical reviews of the colors, but overall most people adore this palette, and I was no different than the rest of the crowd. When I tried it out, I was totally in love...
It was a short love affair.
The third time I used the palette, I tipped the box in order to get the brush out. I stared in horror as a pile of pans fell all over the place. It was as if I was seeing it slow motion but could do nothing about it. Six of the twelve pans fell out and hit my wood floor. Somehow, by some miracle, the shadow remained totally intact, except for a tiny chunk out of the corner of "Buzz." I didn't knock the case around or mishandle it in anyway. Why did this happen? I felt so disappointed. Thinking this was just an unfortunate case of a faulty item, I immediately sent an email to Urban Decay's customer service. It was the weekend, so I knew I wouldn't hear back from them until Monday, so I began researching online to see if this had happened to anyone else.
It turns out this was not an isolated case. When I Googled things like "Naked 3 pans fell out" I turned up a number of comments and reviews from people who had eerily similar experiences with Urban Decay products.
Here are a couple of conversations straight from Urban Decay's Facebook Page:
I just got my naked3 palette in the mail yesterday, I ordered directly from your site. As beautiful as the paper box packaging, I found 2 of the shadows already loose from the palette. They fell right off when I tilted the tin and you can see the dried up glue in the backing. As a loyal fan of your brand, I was disappointed in the quality. For $50+, I didn't think I had to take out my superglue upon opening.
Is it a common issue with the Naked 3 Palette for the pots to come out? The Blackheart and Dust fell out and created quite a mess and a half when they broke I've never had this problem with my Naked 1 Palette that I've had for over a year!
