Hair Ideas (Magazine Scans)

I must admit...When it comes to my hair, I'm just plain lazy!

I have fine, thin hair and it takes a lot of work to make it look half decent.  You would think that since my sister is a hairstylist, I would be really into hair stuff.  Well, my sister is the only reason my hair ever looks good!  Every now and then she wrangles me into her chair kicking and screaming and gives me a new cut, color, or style.  When left to my own devices, though, I pull my hair into a ponytail and call it a day.

Lately, I have been trying to break this habit and put more effort into styling my hair.  Up until now, I had always I flipped past anything that had to do with hair.  Now I started adding some cute style ideas to my "look book" (You can check out my post about that here.)  So, I thought I'd share a few hair-related articles that I saved from various magazines as inspiration.  Hope you enjoy!

I find the feature on Jessica Alba especially inspiring, because she is a fine-haired girl!

So, do you like staying up on new hairstyles and trying new looks or do you keep it simple? What is your favorite trend of the moment?

Personal Style-Magazine Inspiration

I am extremely indecisive and I don't feel that my sense of style is well-defined.  In an attempt to develop better fashion decision-making skills, I started a "look book" where I choose a few items that I really like from any catalog or magazine that I happen to have.  Its nothing fancy-I just glue or tape the pictures into a spiral notebook.  I have been keeping my look book for more than a year now and I feel that it does help me to see patterns in my personal taste and focus more on the styles that I am most drawn to.

You can see my earlier look book posts here and here.

The following are looks I've collected over the past six months or so.  When I began, my only sources were People Stylewatch and catalogs such as Delia's and Alloy.  Now, I

have subscriptions to various magazines, so my look book has gotten more diverse.

I like to keep nail polish advertisements with swatches of their newest colors.  It gives me an idea of the trendy colors for that season, and sometimes instead of buying new, I can stay on-trend by using similar colors that I already own.

So, would you say your style is well-defined or very fluid?  How would you describe your personal style?

Bargain Brag-Macy's/Vivi Preview

Yesterday I was doing some last-minute Christmas shopping at Macy's.  Macy's occasionally has good sales, but I do not shop there too often, because for the most part, I am able to find the same or similar merchandise for less at stores like Ross and Marshall's.

But since I was there, I did a little shopping in the junior's department.

I found this soft open-knit mint green sweater.

The tag said $4.99, which was 85% off the original price!

I was excited about my score, because it is rare to find a nice item like this for so little, especially at Macy's.

When I got to the register, the sweater actually scanned as $1.99!

Which is simply amazing...This item is in perfect condition, not so much as a pull.  I'm thinking that either someone returned this, or else it spent some time lost in the back room and was put out on the floor after being marked down, because there is no reason for this sweater to be that cheap! Either way, its mine now.

Also, earlier this week, I went to dinner in Chinatown for my birthday, and we stopped in a few stores while we were there.

I went in Sanrio and my sister bought me this cute Hello Kitty key cap.

Even the plastic bags are cute in Sanrio

I got Chinese Vivi too.  I recently discovered this magazine, and although I have seen quite a few issues online, this is the first I have ever owned.  Unfortunately, the most recent issue they had was November.

Vivi is packed with adorable clothes.  If you like Asian fashion you must check out this magazine!  I will try to scan some pages after the holidays.  Here is a little sneak preview of this issue.
