Freebie Alert-Free Blush at Target with Coupons

I scored these 2 blushes for free at Target yesterday evening!  Actually, they were more than free...Target paid me $1 for these!!!

These Fit Me blushes by Maybelline cost $4.49 at my local Target.  I bought the Light Rose and Light Pink shades.

I used a $3 off Maybelline manufacturer's coupon combined with a $2 off Maybelline Target coupon to buy each of these items.  The coupons totaled $5 for each blush, but the actual cost of the item was only $4.49.  The extra dollar left over from the coupons was deducted from the cost of the other items I bought in my order. So, not only did I score a free blush for me and my sister, but I earned a dollar in the process! Coupons are awesome!

So, have you gotten any great deals lately?

Blogs to Check Out

Hello, everyone!  Recently, I had the honor of being nominated for the Liebster Award by Chelsea from One Tick to Be Sick.  With so many great blogs out there to choose from, I am always so excited when someone thinks of me for one of these blog awards.

I have done a few of these Liebster posts along the way, so I am going to spare you guys the Q&A part of the award. But in the spirit of the Liebster, I did want to share the love and introduce you to some new blogs.  I read tons of blogs, and I so appreciate all the different points of view that they provide! I am so thankful to all of the bloggers that I follow for sharing their ideas, opinions, and lives with us readers.  Reading blogs has expanded my mind in so many ways.

If you are not familiar with the award, as a Leibster recipient, you are supposed to answer 11 questions created by the person who nominated you, then create 11 questions of your own and nominate 11 bloggers for the award.  While I'm not passing on any nominations, I thought it would be nice to show you a very random sampling of 11 great blogs that I follow and encourage you to check them out...

Review-Holika Holika Bulgarian Rose: Petal Skin, Serum, and Emulsion

Hi everyone!  Today I have a review of some items from Holika Holika's Bulgarian Rose skin care line.  I received these samples of the Bulgarian Rose Petal Skin, serum, and emulsion when I made a purchase in a Holika Holika store in South Korea.

So, first up is Holika Holika Bulgarian Rose Petal Skin

This is what Holika Holika's US website has to say:

Bulgarian ‘damask’ Rose, has been cultivated since the 16th century, it is considered to produce the finest quality essence. Holika’s Bulgarian Rose oil and Rose Water is from the Valley of Roses in the Kazanlak town and is made with the most delicate process. It provides a high-moisturizing effect and provides marvelous beauty to the skin. Bulgarian Rose is the same beauty secret that Cleopatra’s used.

Holika Holika Bulgarian Rose Petal Skin is an alcohol free blend of hydrating and toning rose floral waters, enriched with real rose petals. This gentle floral water hydrates the skin and tones complexion. It’s natural aroma adds a mood-enhancing dimension to the experience.

Benefits:
  • Hydrates
  • Tones
  • Firms

How to Use: Every day after cleansing, pour a small amount into a cotton pad and gently wipe over face and neck.

And this is what I have to say about Holika Holika Bulgarian Rose Petal Skin:

Well, first and foremost, the thing I love the most about this product line is the scent!  I can't say I'm a huge fan of floral scents, but this smells amazing!  Usually floral-scented products have a chemical floral smell along the lines of air freshener.  Bulgarian Rose, however, smells like a bouquet of fresh roses.  It is soft, natural, and absolutely lovely!

"Petal Skin" is the toner step of this line.  I really liked this toner because it smelled wonderful and did not dry my skin in the least, unlike many other toners I have tried.  It left my skin feeling fresh and clean but not dry or tight.

Next up is Holika Holika Bulgarian Rose Serum.

This is what the Holika Holika website says:

Holika Holika Bulgarian Rose Serum has an extraordinary intensive moisturizing effect for normal to dry skin, contains precious Bulgarian Rose Water and rose essential oil that leaves the skin rejuvenated and helps to retain moisture. It is also infused with other ingredients such as Nutritive Oil complex and Manuka honey that revitalize and the nourish skin.

Benefits:
  • Moisturizes
  • Rejuvenates
  • Nourishes

How to Use:
After using Rose Skin, moisturize daily by applying an even layer to cleansed face.

This is what I have to say about the Bulgarian Rose Serum:

My skin is just not dry enough to need both a serum and emulsion, so while the directions say to use toner, then serum, then emulsion, I used just toner and serum, and tried the toner/emulsion combo on a seperate occasion.

The serum was thinner than lotion with a clear-ish white appearance. It had the same awesome scent as the petal skin. I smoothed it on to my face and it left my skin feeling moisturized without being overly moisturizing. I liked the results of just the petal skin and serum. I woke up the following morning with smooth and fresh skin. I would recommend this serum if you have normal to dry skin, especially if your skin is more on the dry side. This line is definitely a moisturizing line and not appropriate for oily skin.

Finally, there is the Bulgarian Rose Emulsion.

This is what the website has to say:

Holika Holika Bulgarian Rose Petal Emulsion contains 20% Bulgarian rose water and rose essential oil. It leaves your skin perfectly hydrated, soothes, softens, and prevents skin dehydration. This emulsion does more than just moisturizes, it also firms and provides a better overall skin complexion.

Benefits:
  • Hydrates
  • Soothes
  • Softens
  • Moisturizes
  • Firms
  • Improves Skin Complexion

How to Use:
After serum/essence, apply an appropriate amount to entire face.

This is what I have to say about the Bulgarian Rose Emulsion:

As I mentioned, I did not use the serum and emulsion together, because I have normal skin and I thought the combination would make my skin get greasy.  The serum was a one-time-use pouch, but the petal skin and emulsion bottles were large enough that I was able to try the product for a few days.

I had high hopes for the Bulgarian Rose line...I am a big fan of Holika Holika in general, and I liked the pretty packaging and scent of this product.  Sadly, though, I think I finally discovered a Holika Holika product that is really not for me!  This emulsion comes out thick and white like lotion and has a bit of an oily feel to it.  The first night I used it, it was a bit greasy going on, but it absorbed and I woke up with moist but not quite oily skin.  On the second day of use, my skin felt a bit greasy the next morning.  I really wanted to like this, so I kept going...  By the third day, I was seeing some small pimples budding on my cheeks and had to quit.  The emulsion was just too much moisture for my normal skin.

Don't get me wrong, everything about this line seemed up to the high standard I expect from Holika Holika, but I would only recommend the Bulgarian Rose to those with dry to very dry skin.  If you have normal skin, but still want to give it a try, I suggest going for the petal skin and serum and skipping the emulsion.

So, have you tried the Bulgarian Rose line?  What did you think?

Bargain Brag: Mini Haul-Target, 89 Cents Direct, Dollar Tree

Hello everyone!  Hope you are having a wonderful weekend.  Here are a few bargains I scored while out shopping today...

I got these pink and black washed Mossimo jeans at Target.  They were only $6.88!  The great part is they are an "ankle" cut with a 29" inseam.  I'm loving the ankle styles that are all over because as a shorty, it means that I can actually find jeans with trendy washes and other embellishments that are a wearable length for me.  I like the fun color and the stud detail of this pair.  I really wish these weren't low-rise, but with the good length and great price I surely can't complain!

My sister has been looking to buy some under eye cream, and she actually spotted this deal.  This Target-exclusive set contains RoC eye cream and Neutrogena mascara.  It was on clearance for $11.48, but my sister found the exact same RoC eye lotion, same size and all, selling by itself for $20 just an aisle away!

I've never tried Roc, but my sister said she's heard good things about the brand, so I thought I would give it a try.

I've also never used Neutrogena masacara.  So, this set was a great way to try both of these out at a bargain price.

I believe in the power of massage as a way to encourage circulation, and discourage weight gain and water retention.  I picked up these little massagers for $1 each at Dollar Tree.

I grabbed this 4 pack of colorful mesh bath poufs at 89 Cents Direct for only 89 cents.

This earring set was an unbeatable bargain...just 89 Cents at 89 Cents Direct!  Twelve pairs of colorful faux pearl earrings for less than a dollar!  OMG-I love this store!!! Although I regularly wear simple earrings like these, I really bought these more for the nice plastic stand.  I plan to take the pearls off and use it to display my favorite stud earrings.

This neon green friendship-style bracelet from 89 Cents Direct features a blingy Hamsa hand.  I think this will go great with festival-style summer looks.

This darling pearl bracelet from 89 Cents Direct is trimmed with a silver mesh bow. This will be perfect for demure Asian-inspired spring time looks with lots of lace, peachy neutrals, and tan accessories.

So, what beauty or fashion bargains have you picked up lately?

Hair Ideas (Magazine Scans)

I must admit...When it comes to my hair, I'm just plain lazy!

I have fine, thin hair and it takes a lot of work to make it look half decent.  You would think that since my sister is a hairstylist, I would be really into hair stuff.  Well, my sister is the only reason my hair ever looks good!  Every now and then she wrangles me into her chair kicking and screaming and gives me a new cut, color, or style.  When left to my own devices, though, I pull my hair into a ponytail and call it a day.

Lately, I have been trying to break this habit and put more effort into styling my hair.  Up until now, I had always I flipped past anything that had to do with hair.  Now I started adding some cute style ideas to my "look book" (You can check out my post about that here.)  So, I thought I'd share a few hair-related articles that I saved from various magazines as inspiration.  Hope you enjoy!

I find the feature on Jessica Alba especially inspiring, because she is a fine-haired girl!

So, do you like staying up on new hairstyles and trying new looks or do you keep it simple? What is your favorite trend of the moment?

Travel Pics-Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

It's been awhile since I posted any travel pictures, so I thought I'd share some from one of the most beautiful places I have ever laid eyes on.  This is Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, Central America.  This gorgeous lake surrounded by volcanoes is located just a couple of hours away from the capital.  This past summer, I took boat tour that visited various towns around the lake.

I think this is a painting of a Mayan Cabbage Patch Kid! LOL.

This man used birds to read fortunes.  You gave him your money, then he pulled one of the birds out from the cage. The bird used its beak to retrieve a little paper with a fortune written on it.  Here was my fortune:

These children performed a traditional dance for us.

This painting depicts a "Romeo and Juliette" type legend about the lake...two star-crossed lovers are supposedly responsible for a strange current that sweeps the lake.

We visited a women's cooperative that showcases traditional Mayan weaving.

These are traditional Mayan woven blouses called "huipiles."

In my eyes, Lago Atitilan is quite possibly one of the most enchanting places in the world...

So, what is the most beautiful place you have visited?
