Bargain Brag-Franklin Mills Mall Haul

Last weekend I scored some unbelievable deals at Franklin Mills Mall in Philadelphia...

Forever 21 had and additional 50% off of all clearance items, and I was able to find some really nice things.

This sheer sleeveless collar shirt with pocket studs and a slight high low hem was only $6!

I got this apricot-colored pleated skirt for only $5!

I like the shape of this top, and that it can be worn casual or for work.  It was only $4.50.

This lovely peachy-nude chiffon shirt with a studded collar was only $5 on sale. Wow. (Sorry for not steaming it before snapping the pic!)

Detail of the pretty collar studs

Forever 21 also had basic camis for only $1.80.  These are my go-to layering camis, so I stocked up!

You can buy them online HERE

I got a $10 gift certificate Dick's Sporting Goods from a Facebook promotion.  I grabbed these Reebok shorts on sale for $13, so after the free $10, I only paid $3 for them.

Bath and Body Works had a coupon for free lotion on their Facebook page, so I stopped in and picked up this 3oz Sexy Dalia Rush lotion for FREE. Smells really nice, too.

My sister and I ate at Burger King with a $5 gift card that I also got through a Facebook promotion.

Its amazing the deals you find if you look.  This is the first time I've taken advantage of free gift promotions that are redeemable in-store.

So, Do you use these types of offers?  What is the best in-store freebie you have ever gotten?

New In: Striped Dress and Forman Mills Store Review

I recently scored this cute black and white striped dress for $14.99 at Forman Mills here in Philadelphia.  This dress is right on trend, and it fits me perfectly! What I like most about it is that the length is not as short as many dresses (it hits just a little above the knee).

I met up with a friend after making this purchase, and she told me she had never heard of this store. Until then, I thought everyone in Philly was aware of Forman Mills, with its bright yellow buildings and obnoxious radio jingle.  So, I thought I'd do an article about it.  For those of you who don't know, Forman Mills is a discount store that has several locations in Philly.  I think they also have some other locations in the Northeast U.S.  They sell a little bit of everything: men's, women's, and children's clothing and shoes, accessories, and some housewares.  I remember hearing that they originally used to sell close-out sweat suits and that their business grew from there.  These days, Forman Mills is something of a bargain-basement version of Ross or Marshalls.

They have a pretty large selection of junior's and misses clothing.  Most of their junior's clothing consists of very random unknown brands, along with some of those inexpensive brands you might see occasionally at department stores such as Derek Heart or Energy.  They also carry closeout items from stores and occasionally designer items.  Some familiar names I saw at Forman Mills during my latest trip are: Forever 21, Rue 21, Gap, Old Navy, Aeropostal, Wet Seal, Charlotte Russe, Mossimo, Kenneth Cole, Limited, Reebok, New York and Company, Guess, and Calvin Klein.

Their selection is hit or miss.  The store is very large and packed with items.  It is one of those stores where you must look through everything in hopes of finding a few standout items.  I saw quite a lot of cute things this past visit, but more often than not, I leave empty-handed.  That's why I don't go there regularly.  when I do stop in, some deals I commonly find there are:

Their full-price juniors items-They tend to be just slightly cheaper than other stores but still just as trendy and cute.  These items aren't such a great savings, but like my new dress, they are a fun buy and not at all expensive.

Basic Tees and Tanks-Forman Mills carries a very large selection of tee shirts and tank tops.  Their full price for these items is low, making Forman Mills a good place to stock up on basics.  The quality of these items varies: some are absolute junk, but many of these items come from well-known mall stores.  It is a good place to check out if you are looking for tops of certain shapes or colors to complete an outfit.  For the most basic tees and tanks, Forever 21 is probably still the least expensive, but Forman Mills is a close second, and they offer a lot more variety.

Lingerie- They sell a mixture of cheaply made bras and panties, better-known brands, and store brands.  The best deals I have ever gotten in Forman Mills have been in the underwear department.  Check the sale rack! In the past have gotten Renee Rafe bra & panty sets for $1...yes, both the bra and panties for $1, as in 50 cent bra, 50 cent panty!!! Here is a picture of a past panty haul.

Hello Kitty Boy Shorts-$1
Zip up bandeau bras- $1 each
Pink, Hot Pink and Orange bra and panty sets-$1 per SET!
Black floral bra-$1, matching thong-$1

Shoes-They have a small shoe department, and usually don't have anything good, but sometimes I magically catch something I like that is both my size and on sale, so it makes it worth a look.  During my trip last week, I spied these Madden Girl t-strap heels in my size in 2 colors, they were on clearance for only $2.99 a pair!  The bargain hunter in me longed to buy them, but I am trying to be more selective about what I buy these days, and sadly, they just do not fit my lifestyle at the moment, so I left them behind.

So for all my Philadelphia and surrounding area bargain hunters... Forman Mills is worth a quick look.  If you take the time to sort through it, you can find the occasional great deal!

Bargain Brag-Franklin Mills Mall

I stopped at Franklin Mills Mall yesterday searching for some Christmas gifts and found two really great deals I couldn't pass up.

In Marshall's, I found this adorable yet basic royal blue skater dress with splits in the shoulders.

There were a few more left in this style in sizes small and medium in a lighter shade of blue, teal, and coral. The dress has belt loops for a skinny belt.

The color I bought is a deep true royal blue, it looks a little lighter in my picture, due to the flash.  The fabric is soft, thick, and stretchy.

I got this on clearance for only $5.00!!!

Some ideas for how to style this dress using items from my wardrobe.

At Rue 21, I got this belt... FOR ONLY $1!

I have a soft spot for woven ethnic print items because they remind me of the time I spent in Guatemala.

I thought it would go with this denim boho dress that I have, for a casual breezy summer look.

(lol-Don't mind my ice cream cone!)

Ideas on how to incorporate the belt with items I already own.

I'm thinking it will be nice paired with my jade jeans.

Bargain Brag- Ross

Check out this awesome deal I got at Ross

Ross Dress for Less is probably my favorite place to shop these days.  There are two locations nearby my house and they are even open a little later than most of the stores in the area, which is convenient.  Ross is a discount store that carries name brand and department store merchandise for considerably less than department store prices.  Ross is similar to Marshall's and T.J. Maxx, and they tend to carry some of the same merchandise as those stores, but their prices are always slightly lower.  Marshall's and T.J. Maxx have a bigger selection, however.  Each Ross location has different merchandise, and some are better than others.  When I lived in Florida, the local Ross was a garbage dump, I never found anything there.  It seemed more like a thrift store than a Ross.  But the stores I shop here in Philly are very good and I always see at least a few standout items every visit (which is very often!). While you can get just about anything at Ross, my favorite thing to buy there is footwear. The selection is limited, so you can't shop with something specific in mind, but if you are open-minded, the shoes they carry are often good brand names and will cost you less than shoes from Forever 21!

Last night I snagged these really cute boots.

They are called Fiesta, by Pink and Pepper.  I checked out the Pink and Pepper website and these shoes are currently selling for $69.00.

As you can see, the original Ross price was $24.99 and they were on sale for $16.99.  What a steal!!!

I love the spikes on the strap! They are really now, but also not over-the-top, making them very wearable and versatile.

These boots definitely embody the idea I was going for in my "Good Girl Gone Bad" post.

Check out A Great Black Friday Deal from Forever 21

I was shopping at Forever 21 yesterday, and they were running a sale taking an extra 50% off of all clearance merchandise... I found this sweet little apricot-colored full skirt.  It has a slightly satiny sheen (looks shinier in the pic than real life) and lace trim.

Full Price: $10.50

That's more than 75% off a skirt that was inexpensive to start out!

Bargain Brag- Mandee

Some Awesome Buys I recently got from Mandee

Who doesn't love a bargain??? I am obsessed with getting a good deal, and I get great joy from knowing that I got something good for way less than it cost most people! So I want to occasionally share the best bargains I find, both on the web and here in Philadelphia.  I purchased these items about two weeks ago, but in the future, I'll try to post sooner.

Mandee is a junior's store, mostly here in the Northeast US (PA, NJ, NY).  They have cute clothes, but I generally find them to be higher priced than other juniors stores like Forever 21, but not higher quality.  There is a Mandee near the Ross that I shop at often, so once in awhile, I'll check it out too.  One thing I always get deals on in Mandee is ACCESSORIES! I've found really pretty belly rings for a couple dollars, jewelry for $2 and less, and once I even got some full size nail polishes for 70 cents each.
On this particular occasion, all of the clearance was an additional 25% off of already low clearance prices, so I got some pretty amazing deals.

Inspired by recent issues of Vivi magazine, I had been looking for one of these collar necklaces on Ebay. Most were around $10 and shipped from China. I found this one on sale for $5.00 meaning I paid only $3.75 after the additional 25% off!

Clearance priced at 99 cents, I got these sparkly little animal print studs for only 75 cents!!!! And since there are so many, I plan on giving a few pairs to my sister...not bad for less than a buck!

Finally, I got this braided black and silver bead cuff bracelet for only 75 cents!!!

These prices were pretty extraordinary for this store, but Mandee is definitely worth checking out.  You can hit a good sale occasionally, especially on accessories. The location where is got these sales is:
 Mandee - Northeast Tower, PA
4640-60 E. Roosevelt Blvd.
Philadelphia, PA 19124

What's the best deal you've gotten lately?

Philly Bargains- 89 Cents Direct

Today I got one compliment after another on my earrings, which made me smile. Little did my friends know, I got them for only 89 cents! That's right, 89 CENTS! So, it inspired me to spread the word about one of my favorite places to hunt bargains, 89 Cents Direct, right here in Philadelphia.

89 Cents Direct is a store that sells inexpensive products imported from China.  They carry just about any type of item you can imagine, and everything is 89 Cents. Unlike DollarTree, you are not going to find much in the way of brand name merchandise at 89 Cents Direct.  However, what I like about the store is that they have a unique selection of products.  Some of the types of products they sell:

  • Seasonal Merchandise- Decorations, holiday themed paper plates, Halloween bags, Costumes, Thanksgiving table decorations, Christmas Wrap
  • Greeting Cards
  • Party Goods
  • Helium Balloons
  • Toys
  • Food
  • Housewares- Dishes, glasses, chopsticks, plastic containers
  • Household Items- Cleaning supplies, gloves, aprons, home improvement
  • Gift Items-picture frames, vases, knick knacks
  • Clothing Items- Caps, bras, flip flops, scarves, hosiery
  • Stationary- Stickers, books, coloring books, notebooks, pens, pencils, art supplies
  • Hair Products- Shampoo, Styling Products, hair accessories for women and girls
  • Personal Care- Soap, deodorant, makeup
  • Jewelry- Earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces, occasionally anklets, toe rings or body jewelry
89 Cents Direct is located on Roosevelt Boulevard in North East Philadelphia.  It is in the shopping center nearby Target, so I usually check it out whenever I make a trip to Target.  There is also a DollarTree store, ShopRite, and Sally Beauty Supply in the same strip mall.  Because I only search for certain types of items, the 89 Cents store is hit or miss, so I like to stop in when I have another reason to visit the shopping center.

What do I buy there?

I stick to the accessories, because they have a fun assortment and it is sooo cheap!
I especially love the jewelry.  For 89 cents, it is not high quality, of course, but I enjoy wearing fashion costume jewelry.  I just want something cute, trendy, and now, it doesn't need to last. I have seen some of the very same pieces that 89 Cents Direct carries for sale in juniors stores for much higher prices.  So the quality is not necessarily poorer than other retailers. They sell cards of stud earrings containing 9 pairs for 89 cents! That's only ten cents a pair!  Often, they carry large zirconia studs, so I always grab them when I see them.  Last summer, when arms full of bracelets were so hot, I got some really cute ones at 89 Cents Direct. I also got a few really nice long necklaces. I don't use hair accessories too much, but they sometimes have some pretty ones.  Also, I occasionally buy their stationary supplies such as envelopes, stickers, etc.

This is the store.

It is located at 11000 Roosevelt Blvd back in the corner under the World Gym sign.

Here are a few of the items I purchased there.

These are the earrings that many of my friends liked today. They are little silver tone pearl encrusted bows, about as wide as a dime, with a few rhinestones in the center.

My long silver owl necklace. I got him quite awhile ago, but I still love him!

A book of Hello Kitty stickers.

This is a fleece Burberry-esque scarf.  Can't beat that for 89 cents!

A cute little plastic comb and mirror set.

The comb pulls out and it opens to a mirror....and these random Chinese ladies!!! Hahaha...I think its showing that you can add a picture in there but I left the Chinese ladies because they make me laugh.

This is another mirror compact. It opens to two mirrors inside. It has a cute little doll on the front.

She is one of those moving pictures, her eyes open and close. I saw this very same compact at Joyce Leslie for $3.99.

I hope you enjoyed my introduction to 89 Cents Direct. It is a place I visit regularly hoping to score some good and inexpensive things.  Check it out and see if you find anything!
